- Indian citizens can easily visit Gelephu because Bhutan allows visa-free entry for Indians. Indian Citizen can stay in Gelephu for 24 hours without having to pay any fee.
- The rules are different, if anyone wants to stay beyound 24 hours and / or visit interior parts of Bhutan.
- Indian tourists must carry either a valid Indian passport (minimum 6 months validity) or an original Voter ID card and/or Original AADHAAR Card as a travel document. At the border immigration office in Gelephu, visitors must obtain an Entry Permit from the Bhutan Department of Immigration. Children below 18 years must carry a passport or birth certificate and travel with a guardian.
- Indian visitors are required to pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) of ₹1,200 per person per night if they stay in Bhutan beyond 24 hours. Children between 6–12 years receive a 50% concession, while children below 6 years are exempt. Travelers should also carry passport photos, follow immigration procedures, and obtain additional permits if traveling deeper into Bhutan beyond the border region. 🌏
