Gurdwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is a historic Sikh shrine located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Dhubri. The site holds special significance in Sikh history because it was visited by two revered Sikh Gurus across different centuries.
In 1505 AD, the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev, stopped here during his spiritual journey from Dhaka toward Assam. During this visit, he is believed to have met the great Assamese Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva, symbolizing a remarkable moment of spiritual exchange between two major religious traditions of the region.
More than a century later, the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, also visited this sacred spot during the 17th century and established the present gurdwara. Locally known as Dumdume Gurdwara, the shrine today stands as a symbol of faith, history, and the enduring connection between Sikhism and Assam.
